Creative Arts Students participate in an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme at Avans University of Applied Sciences, Den Bosch, The Netherlands
Students from the BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production and from the BA (Hons) in Creative Media travelled with DkIT Creative Arts Lecturer Jonathan Duggan to the Avans University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch, The Netherlands, in January 2025 to collaborate on a multi-disciplinary Erasmus intensive programme with architecture and media students from Avans UAS and from the CEU Universidad San Jorge, Zaragoza, Spain.

Over the course of a week, the students worked in international teams to create an architectural design for a public pavilion emphasising and reflecting the history, city, water, and modernity of Dutch city, Den Bosch. The designs were then presented as 10-minute pitches, including 3-minute promo-videos and full 3D virtual reality mock-ups, no small feat in just one week!
Perhaps the most important aspect of taking part in this Erasmus programme was the intercultural competence developed from working with counterparts in a new culture and society.
The intensity of the project was balanced by social activities, scouting the surroundings, film screenings and eating and drinking with a cultural twist, so lots of opportunity to collaborate, build partnerships, make friends, and earn academic credits in the process.
