DkIT Hospitality students do an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme in Tourism at IUT Lens, France
Students from the BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management and BA (Hons) in Marketing and International Tourism Management programmes in the Department of Hospitality Studies at Dundalk Institute of Technology took part in an enriching Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in Tourism, from 9th to 13th March 2026.
This one-week intensive programme was delivered in collaboration with Academia de Studii Economice din București, Romania, and hosted by the Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Lens, Université d’Artois, France. This valuable opportunity strengthened academic partnerships and deepened engagement across tourism, language, and cultural studies with our Erasmus partner institutions. As part of the programme, DkIT students collaborated on “The City Break in France” project, applying their knowledge in a practical, international context.
The experience was further enhanced through a series of cultural visits, including to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Carrière Wellington in Arras, and the Louvre-Lens Museum, providing students with a rich and immersive understanding of French heritage and history. A key highlight of the week was the final day, Friday, when students working in their international groups, delivered presentations to lecturers from all three participating institutions, showcasing their research, collaboration, and innovative ideas.
Participation in this exchange supported students’ professional development, fostering inclusion, creativity, and innovation within a dynamic multicultural learning environment. Notably, the group demonstrated significant growth in confidence and will share their experiences with first- and second-year students in the Hospitality Department to encourage their participation in Erasmus opportunities in 2027.
We extend our sincere thanks to our educational partners, the Erasmus+ Programme, and the International Office at Dundalk Institute of Technology for making this experience possible.
