FÍS 2025: Inspiring Innovations Creative Media Showcase to take place at DkIT

Dundalk Institute of Technology proudly presents FÍS 2025: Inspiring Innovations, a dynamic exhibition celebrating the creativity, technical expertise, and storytelling vision of final-year Creative Media students. This year’s showcase will take place at 6pm on Thursday, 29 May 2025 in the PJ Carroll Building. The event will highlight an exciting and diverse collection of student-led projects that explore the evolving intersections of technology, design, and narrative.

Hosted by the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, admission to the FÍS exhibition is free and all are welcome to attend.

This year’s exhibition features the work of students from the BA in Creative Media and BA (Hons) in Creative Media programmes, offering the public a unique opportunity to experience how today’s emerging creatives are shaping the future of media. From immersive installations and interactive games to critical design publications and 3D environments, each project reflects the dedication and innovation of students poised to enter the creative industries.

Dr Adèle Commins, Head of the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, remarked:

“FÍS 2025 is a wonderful celebration of the hard work and achievements of our students. Each year our final-year students produce exceptional work, and we are consistently impressed by their imagination and creativity. It’s a lovely opportunity to welcome family, friends, and industry professionals to experience their outstanding projects.”

Featured Projects for this year’s exhibition include:

  • Next Year - An immersive escape-room-style installation set in a post-apocalyptic office space. Participants uncover the aftermath of war, climate catastrophe, and collapse through atmospheric design, spatial audio, and interactive storytelling. The experience culminates in a choice: stay behind, or leave Earth on the last rocket to a new beginning.
  • Milk? - A 20-page interactive magazine exploring the shifting landscape of milk consumerism in Ireland. Combining film photography, illustration, animation, and interviews with both dairy and plant-based producers, Milk? reflects on the cultural, economic, and environmental evolution of this everyday commodity.
  • A Neurodivergent College Life - Built in Twine, this interactive narrative game follows five neurodivergent students navigating the challenges of their second year in college. With a focus on social anxiety, friendship, and empathy, players shape the story through their choices, offering a heartfelt exploration of identity and support.
  • Phoenix - A multisensory digital art installation reimagining the mythical Phoenix using 3D modelling, reactive sound, and motion tracking. Set in ancient Heliopolis, users interact with the Phoenix while choosing between spoken word narration and a musical experience. Phoenix is a meditation on metamorphosis, spirituality, and immersive design.
  • FÍS 2025 - Is not only a celebration of student achievement, but a window into the future of creative media. The event invites industry professionals, educators, families, and the wider community to connect with the next generation of media innovators.

JJ Quinlan, curator of FÍS 2025 and Lecturer in Creative Media, said:

“FÍS is where our students’ creativity and technical training come to life. This showcase reflects the calibre of talent emerging from the programme. This year’s work is bold, thoughtful, and technically impressive—our students continue to raise the bar year after year."
