Faulkner Building History

Pádraig Faulkner was a prominent Irish politician and a native of County Louth. Serving as Minister for Education in the early 1970s, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of regional technical colleges across Ireland, including the one in Dundalk.
His efforts were instrumental in promoting accessible higher education in the region. In recognition of his contributions, the building was named in his honor.
The Faulkner Student Services Building at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) was established in January 1998 when the college was designated as an Institute of Technology. It is part of a larger development that also includes the Whitaker building, the Nursing and Health Studies building, and further expansion to the Regional Development Centre.
The building serves as a student services hub, providing essential resources and support to students.
