Whitaker Building
The T.K. Whitaker Building at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is a key academic and administrative centre at the heart of the campus. Whitaker Building History

Officially opened in December 2001, the T.K. Whitaker Building was named in honor of Dr. T.K. Whitaker, a native of Drogheda, Co. Louth. Dr. Whitaker was a pivotal figure in Ireland's economic development, serving as Secretary of the Department of Finance from 1956 to 1969 and as Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland from 1969 to 1976.
His leadership was instrumental in transitioning Ireland from protectionist policies to a more open, international economy, notably through the First Programme for Economic Expansion in 1958.
The building's inauguration was attended by Dr. Whitaker himself, along with then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, Dermot Ahern.
