This 4-year Level 8 course provides students with an innovative and diverse combination of knowledge and skills in sports, exercise and business. Throughout the course students will also have an opportunity to gain additional professional awards including internationally recognised Gym Instructor and Personal Training awards as well as Coaching Ireland awards in ‘Coaching Children’ and ‘Coaching Young People’.

The ‘Sport’ and ‘Exercise’ streams develop the theoretical knowledge and practical application of techniques centred around the promotion of physical activity, health and performance throughout the lifespan. Students study the structure and function of the human body and the governing principles of movement, health, nutrition and sports performance. Throughout the programme, this knowledge is reinforced by community engagement, designed to put theory into practice and to develop the leadership skills required by an effective coach.

The ‘Business’ stream prepares graduates with industry-ready skills in finance, marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship that underpin business leadership today. In the later stages of the programme, students apply their knowledge of sport, exercise, technology, enterprise and project management to social entrepreneurship projects that are attractive to employers in this field.
