Course Overview
This course develops analytical leaders with the problem-solving skills to drive innovation within the community and commercial sport sectors. The sports and exercise elements of the course develop professional and leadership skills in activities enjoyed by the general population throughout their lifespan.
The enterprise and business elements of the course help students to develop the creativity, innovation and enterprise skills that characterise successful business leaders in sport.

Work placement
In Year 3, students have the opportunity to Study Abroad or to be placed in an organisation on a 12-week industry work placement.
This gives students a much broader experience for both their soft skills and technical skills. They can also gain contacts in industry to help them in their future career. If you travel abroad you can significantly improve your language skills and immerse yourself in another culture.
Professional Accreditations
Students can gain additional professional awards including internationally recognised Gym Instructor and Personal Training awards as well as Coaching Ireland awards in ‘Coaching Children’ and ‘Coaching Young People’.
Education Progression
Graduates will be able to progress to Level 9 and 10 postgraduate degree courses.
Graduates of this programme have previously continued their studies in areas such as Strength and Conditioning and Sports Performance, amongst others.

Advanced Entry & Transfer Applications
Advanced Entry is for applicants who have previous educational achievements and/or work experience and want to be considered for direct entry into year 2, 3, or 4 of a course. This includes students looking to transfer to DkIT from another Higher Education provider.
