Established in 2001, the Software Technology Research Centre (SToRC), whose membership is drawn from the Department of Computing and Mathematics, has as its core mission to engage in sectorally-significant research in selected software technology areas.
Research in the Centre is focused on the following strategic software themes:
- Software Quality Engineering
- Spreadsheet Engineering
- Knowledge Engineering & Human Computer Interaction
Since its creation, the Centre has been successful in attracting research funding from a number of sources for a range of basic and applied research projects.

The Software Technology Research Centre is keen to recruit bright and energetic researchers for MSc, PhD or postdoctoral study and currently has two full-time two year funded research student positions available.
