The Department of Humanities at Dundalk Institute of Technology is pleased to announce a symposium on the topic of “Ireland’s North-East and Borderlands: Culture, Society and Innovation”, on Friday 1st May.

Speakers will address aspects of the cultural, historical, social, political and entrepreneurial development of the North-East and Borderlands region, with a particular focus on how its current landscape has been shaped by its history.

Topics will include:

  • Writers/artists/thinkers who have reflected the history and identity of the region in their creative practices
  • Social and cultural activities that have enhanced and contributed to regional development
  • Contemporary projects that commemorate and engage with the region’s past
  • International perspectives on Ireland’s North-East and Borderlands: intercultural perspectives and cultural exchange
