Consolidating Research-Enterprise Alliances Through Engagement with DkIT (CREATE-DkIT) is a four-year project, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.
CREATE-DkIT seeks to strengthen and expand DkIT’s role in research and innovation, focusing on strategic objectives that align with regional policy goals and future collaborative efforts, contributing to the Institute’s ambitions of attaining University status.
Key aims:
- Targeted research projects in Connected Health and Wellbeing, Climate and Natural Resources that address real-world challenges faced by enterprises.
- Education and upskilling initiatives at both undergraduate, postgraduate and employee levels to produce highly skilled professionals.
- Capacity building through support for postgraduate research students, career researchers, and dedicated support staff.

Key Objectives
These key aims will be achieved under the following four objectives
Transform
Transform research and innovation support services to build capacity, amplify industry engagement and create structures for effective responses to the ever-changing research funding and policy landscape through the creation of specialised support roles.
Grow
Grow human capital in DkIT’s prioritised research clusters, conducting research at high Technology Readiness Levels aligned with regional industry needs through enterprise-focused Postgraduate Scholarships, Postdoctoral Fellowships and Research Fellows.
Advance
Advance synergies between DkIT Research and Innovation agenda, regional needs and the teaching at academic schools by creating options for enterprise-centric research training opportunities, including the development of industry-focused structured PhD pathways and Summer Undergraduate Research Projects.
Create
Create a training programme, addressing the needs of researchers, regional enterprises and support units, responding to research policies through development of online modules, in-house training sessions and industry-focused professional-development workshops.
