Course Overview

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of business management and prepares them with the skills to work managing a modern complex business.

Students will learn how to gather, assess, analyse, and present business information, and will study management and global marketing strategies. There is also the option to study another international language.

What makes this course different

Transfer to a Level 8

Students who have passed Year 1 of this course, with an average mark of 70% across all subjects, may be considered for transfer to Year 2 of a Level 8 Business course at DkIT. This is subject to interview and to places being available.

Work Placement

In 3rd year students have the opportunity to Study Abroad or to be placed in an organisation on a 12-week industry work placement.

This gives students a much broader experience for both their soft skills and technical skills. They can also gain contacts in industry to help them in their future career. If you travel abroad you can significantly improve your language skills and immerse yourself in another culture.

Education Progression

Graduates of this course who have achieved a G.P.A. of 50 % or above can progress onto a relevant Level 8 Add-On course.

Entry Requirements

In addition to the standard entry requirements below, there are the following Language Elective Requirements: French: Ordinary level grade O3 or Higher level Grade H5 at Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Spanish/German/ Chinese: No prior knowledge required.

Advanced Entry is for applicants who have previous educational achievements and/or work experience and want to be considered for direct entry into year  2, 3, or 4 of a course. This includes students looking to transfer to DkIT from another Higher Education provider.
