Course Overview

This module enables learners to employ conceptual frameworks and analytical techniques to identify and target markets, select and develop new product ideas and manage the processes which lead to successful innovation.

Understanding the Industry

Professionals working in SMEs and large organisations must ensure that product and service development is at the core of their organisation to ensure competitiveness within their industries.  An understanding of product innovation and design and market readiness is critical in the process of New Product Development. This is essential for both start-up organisations and established organisations.

Career Opportunities

The course provides a starting point for a career in areas such as:

  • Business Development
  • Product Development Specialist
  • Sales Management

Course Delivery and Modules

This course is delivered on campus, 1 day per week (Thursdays) from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm for 6 weeks.

Education Progression

Graduates who successfully complete this module may be eligible for an exemption on specific programmes within this academic area of study

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements but have significant relevant experience (certified and/or experiential) may apply to access this programme via the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route. Learn more about RPL at DkIT
