Course Overview
This module provides learners with essential tools to create media content for public distribution. Delivery can typically include media presented in books, newsletters along with other delivery methods such as websites and social media platforms. Learners are introduced to core design features and techniques to plan, design and create professional and flexible page layouts by working with text and graphics. e.g. Adobe InDesign.
Understanding the Industry
The media industry involves the production and distribution of both online and offline sources of media. It encompasses the design and publication of print media, book publishing, marketing material and an expanding digital publishing sector. The industry involves a wide range of roles from design, creative and editorial positions to production and distribution.

Course Delivery and Modules
This course is delivered on campus on Tuesday evenings for 3 Hours, with 2 additional Saturdays over the 8-week duration.
Education Progression
Graduates who successfully complete this module may be eligible for an exemption on specific programmes within this academic area of study.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Elective Module options will only run subject to student numbers. The relevant Department will determine the viability of each elective module option proceeding depending on the number of students who choose that option. Award Options for Common Entry Programmes: The relevant Department will determine the viability of each award option proceeding depending on the number of students who choose either option. If the numbers for one of the Award options exceed available places, students for this option will be selected based on Academic Merit (highest grades).
