AI for Athlete Activity Recognition and Analysis (AAARA)
We will explore the development and advancement of AI technology for athlete activity recognition and analysis in both homogeneous and heterogeneous sensor technology ecosystems.
The development and advancement of digital devices and wearable technology such as smartphones, smartwatches and smart wearable devices has created a new dimension concerning the study of human behaviour. The data provided by wearable technology has significantly contributed to advancements in our understanding of how physical activity contributes to human health and performance. In this project we are examining the potential for Artificial Intelligence technology to automatically recognise and analyse different types of athletic activity.

PhD candidate Pranay Jaiswal is working on this project to investigate the potential to develop an intelligent recommender system for drill planning based upon the automatic segmentation and analysis of particular parameters, activities and scenarios concerning team sport training and competition.
