Kingspan hosts DkIT Engineering Students at IKON Innovation Centre

12 December 2022

First-year level-8 engineering students from Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) were absolutely thrilled to visit Kingspan’s IKON Innovation Centre in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.

A group of 50 students and staff from the School of Engineering were welcomed by Pauline Owens of the IKON team and DkIT graduate and current Research and Development Manager at Kingspan, Tommy Martin.

Students from DkIT were highly impressed by the research facilities, the use of holograms to help explain the technologies and the real-time building information that emphasised the importance of sustainability and energy conservation to these future engineers. Kingspan engineers were on hand throughout the visit to give career advice to students and discuss the structured Kingspan graduate programme.

The IKON Innovation Centre has been built to the highest standards of sustainable design and is a showcase for Kingspan products and systems. Containing state-of-the-art laboratory and research facilities, it is crowned by the Future Space meeting and events area which features cutting-edge technology and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
