DkIT Students Enjoy Immersive Virtual Reality Field Trip to Zero Latency

05 May 2023

DkIT provided an immersive day for students from their online courses in the Institute’s Department of Visual and Human Computing including the Certificate in 2D/3D Digital Animation production, the Masters in Games and XR and the Masters in Computer Animation. The classes really enjoyed the immersive field trip to Zero Latency, a premier Virtual Reality (VR) gaming facility. The visit provided a refreshing break from coursework while offering valuable insights into the future of gaming and animation.

The students explored state-of-the-art wireless VR systems and engaged with Zero Latency's expert staff, delving into the technical aspects of hardware and software. This unique opportunity allowed them to deepen their understanding of the industry. They also got the occasion to visit the upstairs games rooms where they played some virtual reality games on a suite of oculus quest 2s and had some pizza.

The trip was a great success, leaving the students energized and inspired. It not only strengthened their bond as a group but also reinforced their passion for gaming, XR, and animation.
