Dr Bernard T. Drumm

Science is not merely a list of facts that we must learn and recite. Science is a vibrant and exciting lens through which we can view and understand the world around us. Science is a method. With this method, any of us can perform experiments to find out what is true about the world, understand our origins and how to solve problems in the real world.
In this talk, Dr. Drumm will outline the many types of scientific careers and how a curious mindset can apply to lots of jobs for those interested in any aspect of science.
Dr. Drumm is a science lecturer and researcher in DkIT. He will also provide an overview of the science courses available in DkIT, providing details on course overview, entry requirements, day-to-day college life and STEM employment opportunities.
Dr. Drumm will put all of this in the context of his own career, describing how as a Dundalk native the training he received himself at DkIT allowed him to acquire a love of scientific research, complete a PhD, pursue an international career as a research active scientist in the United States and eventually return to Ireland as a lecturer and research leader.
