Course Overview

This module provides a practical introduction to the psychology of exercise and behavioural change, with a particular emphasis on how to apply this knowledge in a sports environment in order to achieve sporting excellence.

Understanding the Industry

The understanding of sports psychology and behavioural change is of great importance within the sports industry to ensure that athletes are supported and guided in a way to ensure optimal performance is achieved while also being conscious of their mental health, dealing with performance anxiety, injury recovery and the pressures of sport in general.

Career Opportunities

The course provides a starting point for a career in areas such as:

  • Sports Psychology
  • Sports Performance
  • Athlete Counselling

Course Delivery and Modules

This course is delivered on Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm for 8 weeks (On Campus), with an additional 12 hours delivered online over the duration of the module.

Education Progression

Graduates who successfully complete this module may be eligible for an exemption on specific programmes within this academic area of study.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements but have significant relevant experience (certified and/or experiential) may apply to access this programme via the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route. Learn more about RPL at DkIT
