‘We had work placements in local sites in Drogheda, Letterkenny and Cavan. So the opportunity to see how Midwifery is practiced around the country was amazing, compared to other Colleges which might only have one clinical site.’
Lane came to the Open Day at DkIT and looked around the Clinical Skills Lab, and the small class sizes felt right for her.
We only had 18 in our class in 1st year and our lecturers were so good tht we really formed a relationship with them.
The difference with Midwifery and other types of Nursing is that with Midwifery you are an autonomous practitioner.
Lane felt like the Clinical Skills Lab at DkIT made it easier to put theory into practice, and made placement a much easier experience.
