Biography
Dr Wayne Doherty is a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Dundalk IT. He is a member of the DkIT Centre for Renewables and Energy (CREDIT) where he supervises postgraduate research mainly in bioenergy. He was awarded his PhD from TU Dublin and his primary research interests include modelling and simulation, thermochemical conversion of biomass, renewable gas, and energy storage.
He teaches modules and supervises projects on the Mechanical Engineering degree programmes and the MSc in Renewable Energy Systems programme.
Prior to his current position, he worked as a lecturer at TU Dublin, where he delivered modules on bioenergy, thermodynamics, control engineering, mechanics of materials, computer modelling and engineering design.
His PhD research involved modelling of biomass gasification technologies integrated with fuel cell systems. In 2006 he graduated with a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from TU Dublin.
