Biography

Sarah McCann began lecturing in Dundalk Institute of Technology in February 2004. She was the Head of Creative Media from Feb 2013 to Sept 2015, before taking a career break to return to working in the industry with her media production company, Little Road Productions Ltd. Sarah was also the Programme Director of the BA in Video & Film Production for a number of years prior to being promoted to Head of Creative Media.  


Qualifications & Awards

Sarah is a TV/Radio Producer and Director and has had her work screened in film festivals in Ireland, the UK and the US, along with on local and national broadcasters in Ireland. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin & DIT, Sarah worked for a number of years as a production co-ordinator and production manager on short films and documentaries for Irish and UK broadcasters and funders, including a BAFTA award-winning animation, before beginning to produce her own material.

'One Ocean: No Limits', a one-hour documentary which Sarah directed & produced along with performing additional major camera & editing roles, was acquired upon completion by RTE for broadcast in primetime slots (in Dec 2014 & Aug 2015) and was also signed for distribution by Network Ireland Television. It was subsequently sold to Aer Lingus to feature on their In-Flight Entertainment from Nov-Jan 2014-15 and was also picked up by Amazon Prime, where it is currently available for purchase in the UK, USA, Germany & Japan.

Sarah is currently lecturing across a variety of programmes in the Department of Creative Arts, Media & Music, while producing a slate of radio & TV projects. She was the external examiner for the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production in Griffith College Dublin from 2014-2018 and is on the panel of European experts for the European Audiovisual Cultural Executive Agency.
