N-TUTORR - July 2024
31 July 2024N-TUTORR updates for July 2024
New cohort of N-TUTORR Student Champions in place nationally
Following completion of the initial student champion programme, each partner institution ran a second call to establish a new Student Champion network until the end of the year. In DkIT, and with thanks to all who applied, the following students have been appointed:
- Fuhad Sulaimon, School of Informatics and Creative Arts
- Áine Cleary, School of Business Studies and Humanities
- Anita Chioma Ogueri, School of Health and Science
- Anthonia Stephen, School of Business Studies and Humanities
- Sanidhya Pandey, School of Informatics and Creative Arts
- Kshitiz Mittal, School of Business Studies and Humanities
- Ben Mc Keever, School of Business Studies and Humanities
Again, many thanks to DkIT’s first cohort of seven Champions, Karen Kearney, Louise Duffy, Shauna Kerley, Ryan Hayes, Samuel Rodrigues, Celine Jia Xin Law and Alison Duffy. Also, in recent months, the N-TUTORR GenAI Student Champion Network completed their programme. This was led by IADT and included three DkIT students (Hannah McCabe, Áine Cleary, and Sakura De Francesco). Credit to these students for their work and positive impact on this programme.
DkIT hosts national N-TUTORR Student Champion Event
As part of the project’s Stream 1, the DkIT Student Empowerment Co-ordinator (SEC) Angela Magennis, organised a workshop for newly appointed N-TUTORR Student Champions across all seven partner sites. This workshop involved other SECs and their teams of Champions travelling to Dundalk to take part. Facilitating the workshop was Adrian Harrison. Angela acknowledges
“the goal of this workshop was for the new Student Champions to get to meet each other in person, to learn more about the associated opportunities with this exciting role - and specifically to align with the benefits of effective team work. The feedback from students was so positive afterwards. They enjoyed the experience thoroughly and used the opportunity to form connections with fellow Champions from other Institutions leading out on similar N-TUTORR themes, empowering future collaborations and sharing of ideas. It was also great for members of our SEC team to have the chance to discuss future project plans collectively. Adrian was an excellent facilitator who ensured the day was a success for all”.
Ronan Bree says
“Credit to Angela for conceptualising and organising this event. To provide the national network of N-TUTORR Student Champions with a space to connect and share experiences, as well as realise the impact their contribution is going to have, has been so beneficial. Thanks also to the facilitator on the day, the feedback from attendees has been excellent”.
N-TUTORR and AdvanceHE Fellowship supports
To continue developing staff capabilities across DkIT, the N-TUTORR project is supporting 33 staff with their AdvanceHE fellowship applications. Following School briefings by Ciara O’Shea and Ronan Bree last year, and more recently via an all staff call, we held an AdvanceHE webinar workshop for those indicating an interest in applying. Since then, plans were put in place to support these 33 members of staff with their submissions. Ronan Bree says
“Firstly, huge thanks to Ciara O’Shea for her hard work in establishing this transformative opportunity. This will be a landmark programme for DkIT to build capacity with. Developing a team of fellowship awardees across the Institution will reflect DkIT staff’s commitment and dedication to supporting learning in Higher Education. Everyone associated has committed to mentoring and supporting staff who are considering applying in the future - this will again showcase the collaboration and support amongst our staff community.”
SAVE THE DATE!
- N-TUTORR’s final showcase takes place in Dublin’s Convention Centre on November 26th. Please mark it in your calendars! Further details to follow.
- It’s looking like Wed 30th Oct will be the date for a DkIT, N-TUTORR ‘GenAI to Support Learning and Teaching’ in-person workshop. Via our training needs analysis, DkIT staff indicated this remains a key area, and the workshop is something the team along with other key stakeholders from the Registrar’s office, CELT, IT and the Library, are really excited about running. Again, final confirmation and further details to follow.
Thanks to everyone across DkIT who continue to support the N-TUTORR team. We are so appreciative of the help, positivity, energy and kindness shown by colleagues and our students. Thank you.
