13 July 2021

The Louth International Film Festival will take place in the An Tain Arts Centre Dundalk on October 2nd, 2021. Presented by The Louth Filmmakers Society in association with Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT).

The festival consists of a carefully curated features programme with post screening Q&A’s from visiting directors, industry panel discussions, DkIT short films and a global short film competition.

Speaking about the festival, Louth Filmmakers Society Chair, Jay Peter Javeri said,

The Louth International Film Festival is a wonderful opportunity for audiences of all ages and abilities to see the exciting work being produced in DkIT’s Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, not to mention gain insider knowledge from some of the best in the business. The Louth Filmmakers Society is a non-profit organisation, setup in 2017 to promote the creative, technical and educational aspects of filmmaking and support the development of visual arts in the North East.”

Lorcan Dunne, one of the Festival Directors and Lecturer on the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production course at DkIT added,

The festival is a great opportunity for our students to get feedback and recognition from the public for the work they produce throughout their time here at DkIT. This allows students to be more critical and more confident of their work. Each year I am blown away with the talent that we have here in DkIT.”

Dundalk native and Hollywood director, John Moore, is a patron of the festival, he had this to say about the second edition,

I’m delighted and proud to once again support the Louth International Film Festival. The constant and thoughtful efforts of my hometown and DkIT to train, support and promote all forms of visual arts speaks volumes about their deep understanding of the potential for real jobs and futures within the industry. The Louth International Film Festival provides a great opportunity to shout it from the rooftops.”
