DkIT Midwifery Staff & Students Deliver Again at All Ireland Conference
03 May 2023A delegation of staff and students from the DkIT’s award-winning Section of Midwifery recently attended the annual Maternity and Midwifery Festival in the Helix, DCU.
Dr. Jean Carragher and Dr. Anita Byrne, along with two first year midwifery students Sophie Murray and Eimear Hearty, co-created and presented together on the day. The presentation showcased the staff-student partnership initiatives in the Section of Midwifery in DkIT, which include the Midwifery Peer Assisted Learning and Support (My PALS) project and the Disciplinary Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment (DELTA) Award. Both these initiatives involve students as partners in collaborating with staff and their peers to enhance student success and the student experience within the award winning DkIT Section of Midwifery.
Dr Jean Carragher, Midwifery Lecturer, DkIT Said '
The Midwifery Section had a great day out at the All-Ireland Maternity and Midwifery Festival and it was wonderful to see our students engaging so well with all the presentations and stands, thank you all for making the effort and well done to everyone involved! It was great to see the support from colleagues and students on the day. A particular mention and many congratulations to Sophie Murray and Eimear Hearty, two of our first-year midwifery students, who did a fantastic job on their debut midwifery conference, first of many to come, I am sure! A final thank you to the SMT for funding the bus to the conference enabling staff and students to attend together'
