DkIT Host Exciting Tech Careers Event

05 May 2023

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) recently held an extremely successful and jam packed Tech Careers Event on campus for students of the Institute. DkIT’s award-winning Careers and Employability Centre put an incredible focus on careers fairs to support students on their career paths. Due to events such as this the Institute are delighted to report that 97% of their graduates are in employment or further education within 6 months of graduating.

DkIT has a long and proud history of being the go-to Institute for highly skilled tech graduates both internationally, nationally and regionally. Among those from the industry who attended on the day included ABB, Amazon Web Services, Fanify, First Derivative, Intact, Kaseya, Prometric and StatSports.

The DkIT Tech Careers Event was designed to be an interactive on-campus opportunity for Tech employers and DkIT students to converse and connect. Placing the students and their talent at the centre of this engagement, the day comprised of 4 main elements which included a Programme Overview which allowed the staff from Informatics & Creative Arts School to update all attendees on course developments. The employers presented to the crowd on their graduate opportunities, the final year student projects were on display which was a fantastic occasion for employers to engage directly with these students and see the innovation and skills applied on their key projects and the final element of the day was networking which facilitated the opportunity for employers and students to meet at employer stands and discuss potential opportunities further.

Catherine Staunton, Head of Careers & Employability said,

From my perspective, today was an excellent employability showcase for the School of Informatics & Creative Arts. The student’s talent, staff commitment and quality of employer relationships shone through. Each stage of the day was specifically designed to allow for spotlights on student projects, industry opportunities and most crucially direct interaction between students and employers. It was wonderful to see these conversations happen, growing connections and student and graduate job opportunities. As always, we are delighted to have such a rich selection of tech companies in this region, who engage and support whole heartedly with the event”.
