DkIT continue partnership with Studyclix to increase access and provide online tuition support to local schools

27 October 2022

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has continued their innovative new partnership with teaching and learning website, Studyclix, to provide a variety of advanced study tools to 12 secondary schools in the region including Beaufort College, Ardee Community College and Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Dunleer. Students can access Studyclix.ie for free, courtesy of DkIT, to get expert exam tips and see past papers broken down by topic.

The partnership was made possible due to the COVID-19 Contingency Funding for Access which was administered via the Higher Education Authority (HEA). The funding aims to mitigate against some of the disruptive effects of the pandemic on learners and to ensure priority groups are not further disadvantaged and to provide support in a targeted way.

DkIT is meeting the cost of an annual online tuition licence offered via Studyclix for 5th and 6th year students in the 12 schools. The initiative is led by the DkIT Access Office.

Speaking about the initiative, Eileen Lynch, Access Officer at DkIT said,

“DkIT is delighted to be able to offer this support to second level students in our region for the second year running. We are using COVID-19 Contingency Funding to provide this support and with the added challenge of the cost of living crisis, we welcome this opportunity to take some of the financial pressure from students and their families. I would like to thank our partner, Studyclix.ie, and to acknowledge their response to the Ukrainian crisis by providing the support to incoming Ukrainian refugee students on a no-cost basis. The resilience of our second level students and their teachers is inspirational”

Studyclix.ie simplifies the study process by breaking down each subject into topics. For each topic past exam questions, marking schemes, quizzes and videos are available. The site has more than 220,000 students across Ireland registered while more than 90% of second-level teachers also use the service.

Roisin Feeney, Product Manager at StudyClix adds

“Students and teachers alike use Studyclix because it creates a positive atmosphere around revision, is highly motivating, and our tools help students do better in their exams. Over the past three years, Studyclix have engaged in a successful ‘Sponsor a School’ programme working with third-level education institutions and businesses to ensure students across the country have equal access to digital revision tools. We are proud to partner with DKIT and acknowledge their ongoing commitment to helping local schools support their students transition from secondary school to third level”.
