DkIT Computing students participate in Coding project in Porto
30 September 2022A group of ten computing students have just returned from an EU intensive code development project. Along with DkIT, the project involved academics and students from five other EU colleges (Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Finland and Germany). The project ran for ten days.
The students were formed into international teams in such a way as to ensure that each team contained one student from each of the participating colleges. The student teams were tasked with building a prototype of a mobile app that tackled an issue relating to the area of “sustainable tourism”. The student teams were also required to develop a business plan to show how they could commercialise their mobile app.
A goal of the project was to provide the students with valuable interpersonal and communications skills. This was achieved by getting the students to work in multidisciplinary and multinational teams and by requiring each team to make three different presentations during the duration of the intensive project.
The project also provided students with a great opportunity to improve their technical skills. In particular, the DkIT students got to put their mobile app design and development skills into practice.
The project was funded by the EU.
