Be Part of a Revolutionary Research Project

19 January 2023

A leading research centre in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are currently looking for people with two or more chronic health conditions to participate in a trial for a revolutionary new digital health self-management project called SEURO, which is being funded by the EU.

NetwellCASALA, the Research Centre for Ageing at Dundalk Institute of Technology, are leading the Irish trials of a major EU Horizon2020 project called SEURO.  The project partners in Ireland include Trinity College Dublin, Caredoc and Industry leaders IBM and Home Instead.

The ProACT digital health platform was developed and trialled by NetwellCASALA under a previous Horizon 2020 project. It was shown to empower older adults living at home with chronic diseases/multimorbidity to better understand and independently manage their health and well-being, improve their conditions and to take more control of their healthcare. The SEURO project aims to find out if the ProACT platform can also help people to use health services more effectively and improve their quality of life.

The research team are looking to recruit 240 older adults who have been diagnosed with two or more of the following chronic conditions: diabetes, chronic respiratory disease (COPD, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma); heart failure, or chronic heart disease (angina, hypertension, atherosclerosis, arrhythmia) to participate in the trial. We are seeking participants from the north-east, Dublin and surrounding counties, and the south-east. Members of the care network supporting the person (e.g. family member, informal carer, paid carer and healthcare professionals) can also participate.

Participants can join the 6-month research project from January to June 2023. Full technical support will be provided throughout the project.

If you, or someone you know, has two or more chronic conditions (diabetes, chronic respiratory condition, chronic heart failure or chronic heart disease), we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact NetwellCASALA for more information on 042 9370296 or email seuro@dkit.ie.
