First Graduates celebrate success of DkIT and O’Fiaich College ‘2+2’ Pathway
The first cohort of graduates from the O’Fiaich College and Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) ‘2 + 2’ Programme in Digital Marketing & Strategic Communication recently graduated from DkIT.
Under the ‘2 + 2’ Programme agreement between the two institutes, students who have done the Level 5 course in Marketing & Social Media Management plus the Level 6 course in Advanced Business & Marketing in O’Fiaich College can then gain advanced entry into Year 3 of DkIT’s BA (Hons) in Digital Marketing & Strategic Communication. Through the programme students can gain their honours degree in 2 years, with the exemption from 1st and 2nd year.
“I am delighted with today’s graduation, marking the achievement of the first cohort of graduates from O’Fiaich College who have completed the 2+2 programme with our BA (Hons) in Digital Marketing & Strategic Communication,” said Shane Hill, Head of Department of Management & Financial Studies at DkIT. “Many congratulations to the students and DkIT faculty involved and, of course, great appreciation for the tremendous work with our colleagues in O’Fiaich College. A lot of effort and innovation have gone into making this initiative the success it is, and we look forward to continued collaboration over the coming years.”
Marcus Howard, Level 5 and Level 6 Marketing Course Coordinator at O’Fiaich College, Dundalk added:
“It really makes us very proud to see real education and opportunity in action, with students benefiting from a clear pathway to progress in their studies. This 2+2 collaboration demonstrates the value of colleges working together to create meaningful opportunities for learners. On behalf of Ó Fiaich Institute, I would like to congratulate Shane Hill and Paula Mullen and their colleagues in DkIT for their commitment to establishing and facilitating this important link. We are immensely proud of the positive impact of this partnership and look forward to building on its success for future cohorts of students.”
The ‘2 + 2’ programme agreement was developed under the North East Further & Higher Education Alliance (NEFHEA), a major regional higher and further education initiative involving colleges in the North East and led by DkIT. NEFHEA works to enhance progression of students from further to higher education, collaborate on course design and development relevant to regional needs, and share experience and resources.
