DkIT receives PEACEPLUS Changemaker funding to deliver ImmerseHER – a cross border immersive Arts initiative

Dundalk Institute of Technology has received PEACEPLUS Changemaker funding to deliver ImmerseHER: Empowering Young Women through cross-border immersive arts.

A new cross-border initiative is set to empower young women to explore identity, heritage, and storytelling through immersive arts and digital technologies.

The programme will support young women aged 16–25 to co-create their own narratives—shaping memories, stories, and connections to place, people, and heritage. Participants will explore creative practices such as augmented reality textiles, 360° filmmaking, photogrammetry, VR animation, motion capture, and digital fashion. Through this work, they will bring heritage to life in new and innovative ways and showcase their creations in a final exhibition.

ImmerseHER focuses on building digital and creative industry skills, preparing participants for careers in Ireland’s rapidly growing immersive and digital sectors. The initiative plays an important role in advancing gender equality and representation within the creative industries.

Jackie Toal, Project lead and a Lecturer in the School of Informatics and Creative Arts, said:

“This project will enable young women to build their digital skills, develop their voice and identity, and co-create their own stories and heritage. It will equip participants with industry-ready skills in animation, immersive technologies, and virtual production, while also fostering an awareness of heritage and craft.”

This initiative has been awarded €86,436 through the Change Maker Funding Programme, managed by Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) and delivered by Pobal. It will support a series of collaborative cross-border bootcamps, enabling participants to build skills, confidence, and meaningful connections. We look forward to launching the project in late June 2026.
