DkIT Computing Students take part in European Union Project in Portugal

A group of six students from year 1 of the BSc (Honours) in Computing in Software Development participated in a project in Porto, Portugal from 17th to 22nd May. During the project, student teams conceptualised and developed educational mobile apps.

Students from Portugal, Ireland, France, Belgium, Poland, Croatia, Finland and Lithuania took part in the project. Participating students were from a variety of degree areas, studying either IT, Business or Communications. Students were organised in to multi-disciplinary teams. all from different areas and had to develop a mobile app, an associated business plan, and a marketing plan. At the end of the project, the teams presented their work to a panel of academics from the participating countries.

The project helped the DkIT students develop their technical app-development skills. The DkIT students also gained confidence and developed important skills, such as collaborating, working in a multi-disciplinary teams, and presenting. The students also developed their inter-cultural competencies and their awareness of their own professional identity.

The project was funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme.
