Built Environment students recognised for Surveying excellence
First year students in Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying were recently presented with certificates recognising their achievement in measured surveying skills, a core competency for careers in the construction sector.
A total of 33 students across Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying programmes received awards after achieving over 70% in the Measured Surveying 1 module, completed between September 2025 and January 2026.
Now in its third year, the competition highlights students’ ability to apply industry-relevant skills including interpreting site maps, carrying out levelling techniques, recording survey sketches and collecting precise measurements. The module also emphasises teamwork, independent problem-solving and practical site planning.
Students were presented with certificates by their lecturers Enda Fields, Patrick Carr, Eadaoin Curran and Pauric Mc Kenna.
Four overall prize winners — one from each programme — received additional awards sponsored by ORS Building Consultants, reflecting the strong industry partnership supporting the initiative. Representatives from ORS attending the event included Chartered Building Surveyor Jack Donaldson, Devin Kinsella, a DkIT Building Surveying graduate and Emma Kiernan from the ORS Marketing Department.
Speaking at the presentation, staff noted that the competition continues to play an important role in preparing students with practical, job-ready skills highly valued across the construction and surveying professions.
A big congratulations to all the students who achieved outstanding results and were presented with awards.
