Built Environment students presented with prizes for Measured Surveys 2 surveying skills module
Second Year students in the Department of the Built Environment, studying Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, and Construction Management were recently presented with prizes for achievements in their first academic year.
From January to June of this year, students competed in a range of activities during the Measured Surveys 2 module, building on key learnings and skills gained from the 2025 Measured Surveys 1 module.
In this module, students worked both independently and collaboratively to plan and execute a range of surveying tasks. They developed competencies in measured site and existing building surveys, gained an introduction to modern electronic surveying instruments and techniques, and practiced advanced levelling methods. The module also covered inverted staff readings, data preparation and analysis, calculations, laser levelling, and the production of cross-sections, longitudinal sections, and contour drawings, among other key skills.
Five Built Environment students (achieved a grade 70% or above in their Measured Surveys 2 module) These students were presented and received prizes sponsored by ECC, one of the leading engineering companies in Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Pauric McKenna and Colm Holmes of ECC and their lecturer Enda Fields were present to present all winners with their prizes and well-deserved achievement certificates.
A big congratulations to all the students who achieved outstanding results and awards were presented to:
Architectural Technology Winner: Joseph Murray
Building Surveying Winners: Shannon Wiggins and Ciara Dunne
Construction Management Winner: Mamelis Kabangu and Shay Rooney
