From Workshop to Stage: students experience the art of mime with Radim Vizváry
Students from the BA in Theatre and Film Practice recently took part in a remarkable mime masterclass led by Radim Vizváry, Artistic Director of Laterna Magika at the Czech National Theatre.
Hosted by An Táin Arts Centre, our students were blown away by the extraordinary level of technique on display and were inspired to rise to the challenges of the workshop. It was deeply physical and demanded a great deal of personal focus - not only on Radim and his exercises but also on their own physical awareness and coordination.
The experience was further enriched by an invitation from the Czech Embassy to attend Vizváry’s performance Robot Radius at The Helix Theatre—a dynamic reimagining of Čapek’s influential sci-fi drama R.U.R.. This memorable encounter offered students an exceptional insight into contemporary European theatre.
