Empowering Future Engineers: Women in Engineering Event at DkIT

A special Women in Engineering lunch was held recently for female students in Mechanical, Civil and Electrical & Electronic Engineering at DkIT. Sponsored by Engineers Ireland North East Region, the event aimed to foster networking and support among women pursuing careers in Engineering.

The highlight of the afternoon was an inspiring talk by Rebecca Lambe Fagan, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from DkIT and current employee at ControlSoft. She was awarded the Hiab Prize as the top female student in the School of Engineering at the recent graduation ceremony and in addition, is an accomplished athlete who plays for the Louth LGFA team.

During her address, Rebecca shared insights from her time at DkIT, her transition into the workplace and offered practical advice to students preparing for their careers. Her story served as a powerful example of balancing professional excellence with personal passions.

Following the talk, attendees enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to network with peers across Engineering disciplines, strengthening connections and building a supportive community for female students within the School of Engineering.
