DkIT Department of Hospitality Studies hosts “Nourish to Flourish” Nutrition & Wellbeing Workshop as part of the DkIT Healthy Campus programme of events.
The Department of Hospitality Studies at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) successfully hosted an engaging and informative on-campus event entitled “Nourish to Flourish”, a Nutrition & Wellbeing Workshop designed to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices among students and staff. This was part of a programme of events being organised this year by the DkIT Healthy Campus Working Group.
The workshop featured two themed sessions, focusing on Healthy Breakfast and Healthy Lunch options. Both sessions were facilitated by DkIT lecturers Derick Englishy, Rosemary Leonard, and Diako Khodaei, from the Department of Hospitality Studies. They were ably supported by Year 2 BA in Culinary Arts students, who helped to deliver and demonstrate nutritious meal ideas.
The event was hosted in collaboration with the Healthy Louth Initiative, with the support of the Department of Health. Among the attendees was Aoibheann Campbell from Louth County Council, alongside a wide range of DkIT students and staff.
Participants responded with very positive feedback, highlighting the practical value of the sessions and their relevance to everyday wellbeing. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the department’s expertise while encouraging healthier lifestyle habits within the DkIT community.
The Department of Hospitality Studies extends its thanks to all who contributed to the success of “Nourish to Flourish” and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with community health partners to support wellbeing initiatives in the region.
