DkIT presents “The Mysteries of Lough Muckno” at Iontas, Castleblayney on 27th November at 7pm
On the 27th November, “The Mysteries of Lough Muckno”, the resulting performance of the IRC funded Community Write a Science Opera (WASO) will be performed at Íontas, Castleblayney. This project, spearheaded by DkIT lecturers, Dr Bridget Kelly, Dr Daithí Kearney, along with Íontas arts officer David Maine and drama facilitator Cathal Thornton, is the result of many months of engagement with members of the local community as well as students from both the National Learning Network, Monaghan and Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney.

The evening’s entertainment, which commences at 7pm, will feature live performance- theatrical pieces, rehearsed readings, music, poetry as well as some pre-made recordings from the groups and individuals who participated throughout the project. The production is inspired by conversations about Castleblayney as well as the biodiversity, history, heritage and folklore around Lake Muckno.
Admission is free, but it is advised to reserve a ticket through the Íontas ticket office at www.iontascastleblayney.ie.
This project is funded by the Irish Research Council New Foundations Scheme.
