DkIT’s Creative Collaboration with The Community
DkIT are delighted to report another fabulous creative collaboration with the local community. DkIT loves nothing more than showcasing their student’s originality whilst supporting the community with the student’s creative outputs.
Recently the Institute’s Creative Media students were involved in an exciting partnership with the organising committee for the St Patrick’s Day festival in Dundalk. The students created some wonderful animations which were screened during the St Patrick’s Day festival in March.

These animations were designed by students who were completing their ‘Design in Motion' module, for Creative Media Year 2. It was a fantastic experience for the students who then got their designs displayed in large format in a public arena.
JJ Quinlan, Creative Media Lecturer said
“It all started with a meeting with Maeve Yore who is a councillor and Dagan Fleming a local businessman. The project devised from the meeting was to task the second-year Creative media students with creating an animation to mark St Patrick's day, the best 2-3 animations were shown around the town via big screens”.
Louth Councillor Maeve Yore said,
“The St Patrick’s Day Dundalk Committee were delighted and are looking forward to working in collaboration with the expertise and abundance of talent from Creative Arts Media & Music Dept in DkIT again to build on the success of St Patrick’s Day Dundalk Festival”.
Due to the success of this year’s collaboration, the festival committee have asked if the Institute would offer next year’s 3rd year creative media students to pursue their work experience with the committee regarding the creation of all the promotional assets and branding for the new festival.
JJ Quinlan also added
"The project for this year was an animated infographic about St Patrick, stating some facts about him and how he came to Ireland. We were delighted that the students enjoyed the project so much and I was very happy with the engagement they showed, especially since a high proportion of the class is not from Ireland. This student and community collaboration is a fantastic way for the Institute’s students to get involved in creating branding, making publications like brochures, branded social media and animated infographics whilst giving back to the community”.
