DkIT Students Support “Care for your Pair”
Dundalk Institute of Technology proudly turned pink recently as the 3rd year General Nursing students held their “Care for your Pair” Cake Sale in aid of the Irish Cancer Society's Fight Against Breast Cancer.
This is a yearly event within the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Early Years, which started in 2017. This event would not be possible without the support of the third-year general nursing students, who baked lovely goodies and generously gave their time to run the event. In addition, this event would not be the success it was without the support of everyone who attended and donated money to support the Irish Cancer Society and their fight against breast cancer.

This year students decided to incorporate a raffle in the event, and the 3rd year Nursing students would like to thank all those who donated spot prizes and extend a special thank you to Alison McCabe www.breastcarebyalison.ie , Laura Klavina and Rosie Posie Flower Walls & Balloons for donating the beautiful balloon display in aid of breast cancer.
More than 3,500 women and approximately 35 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Ireland. It is more common in women over 50.
Ann Everitt-Reynolds, Lecturer, Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Early Years said:
‘We are delighted to have held this fundraising event again this year, not only is it raising funds for such a worthwhile charity, but this event also raises awareness among students and staff of the importance of breast health and the prevalence of breast cancer in Ireland’
The event was a great success and the total raised was €822.16.
