Talk EDI to Me
The Talk EDI to Me project aims to promote EDI conversations among higher education staff, and to provide them with support in managing challenging thoughts and feelings about having such conversations.
CBS is characterised by the use of multi-level research methods and a reticulated approach to theory development. CBS is the scientific foundation of the behavioural scientific theory Relational Frame Theory (RFT) and its clinical application, ACT. Exploring gender through a CBS lens may offer greater insights into the psychological processes involved in experiences of gender, beliefs around gender, and related behaviours. This greater understanding may facilitate the development of interventions to promote increasing acceptance and inclusion of diverse gender identities and promoting broader, more flexible behaviours and beliefs in the presence of gender-biased rules and contexts that may give rise to rigid and unhelpful behaviours.
This research is a collaboration between Dundalk Institute of Technology and the National College of Ireland. Funded by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), it involves the development of an evidence-based workshop to increase staff members’ comfort to talk about gender and EDI. Participants will develop skills to have affirming conversations and contribute to a respectful organisational culture, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of EDI initiatives.
