Inspiring More Women into STEM at DkIT

We know that women have the talent and ability to succeed in STEM. Yet, only one in four people working in STEM are women. At Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), we are committed to helping change this.

In 2025, over 2,300 young female students shared their perspectives in the iWish Annual Survey. Their message was clear — girls want:

  • More information about STEM careers
  • Access to female role models
  • Clear guidance on STEM courses

We listened.

Since 2022, DkIT has partnered with iWish to inspire and support girls in the North East to explore STEM pathways. Together, we offer an engaging school roadshow and workshop programme, designed to bring STEM to life.

What Your School Can Expect

In-school Roadshow Visit (January)Our team will visit your school, where students will hear directly from female scientists, engineers, and technologists about their career journeys and opportunities in STEM. Participants will compete in 3 STEM activities. 
STEM Taster Day at DkIT (May)Participating schools can nominate up to 25 students to attend a hands-on STEM experience on campus each May.
Students will take part in five fun and interactive activities across Science & Health, Engineering, Computing & IT, Film and Media and Health and Physical Activity. 
Access to the iWish Showcase Event (RDS, February)Participating Schools can avail of a discounted rate to attend the renowned iWish Showcase in the RDS—an exciting national event celebrating women in STEM (Feb 4th 2027).
