Practical, Bite-Sized Training Sessions to Support You and Your Students
As the new academic year kicks off, we know the “hot spots” are coming – those periods when students face mounting pressures with assignments, deadlines, and adjusting to academic life. These stresses often land on your desk too. On Thursday 4th September 2025, Student Services, in collaboration with HR, will launch a pilot suite of 30-minute, practical training sessions designed to support you – the staff – as you support our students.
These quick, skill-based sessions are built around the real challenges academic and support staff face, while also benefiting grades and engagement from our students.
When & Where:
- Thursday, September 4 – In-person sessions (with coffee and pastries!)
- M111 – Muirhevna Building
What You’ll Gain:
- Confidence in where to send students in distress
- Practical skills for supporting neurodiverse students
- Tips to navigate common issues for international students
- LGBTQ+ awareness for inclusive classroom practices
- Self-care strategies for staff wellbeing
- Updates on student supports you might not even know exist
