Accessing Material From Other Libraries

If the Library does not have the material you need you may be able to access it elsewhere.

Interlibrary loan
We may be able to borrow the book on your behalf from another library. See our interlibrary loans section for details.

Visit another library
The Library can provide students and staff of DkIT with a Letter of Introduction, with which you should be able to visit another library for one day.

We can also provide students and staff with a Partners Reader Card, which will allow you to visit another Institute of Technology (excluding DIT) for the duration of the time you are registered here.

You can apply online for a Letter of Introduction or Partners Reader Card. Alternatively, complete the print application form below and return it to the Library Information Desk. We ask that you allow at least 1 working day for applications to be processed.

Students and staff of DkIT can also become members of the Louth County Libraries free of charge under the 1 Card 6 Libraries initiative.

Music PAL
Students and staff of DkIT who are studying or teaching music can apply for a Music PAL Access Card. The Access Card will allow you to visit and make use of the facilities at any of the libraries participating in the Music PAL scheme. You can apply online for a Music PAL Access Card. Alternatively, complete the print application form below and return it to the Library Information Desk. We ask that you allow at least 1 working day for applications to be processed.

Free online books
Many books are freely available in full or in part from Google Books and Project Gutenberg.
