Course Overview

The aim of the MBS in Responsible Entrepreneurship is to help you become the entrepreneurial changemakers of the future. By participating in this programme, you will learn important skills for responsible new venture creation in areas linked to the UN SDGs. Through the programme, you can choose to create a business that is responsible, sustainable and of benefit to society OR develop the relevant entrepreneurial and responsibility awareness skills to work in a sustainability/responsibility role within an existing business. Either way, you will be addressing responsibility challenges in a meaningful way and making an impact on the world.

This programme is available on a one-year full-time basis. Graduates should also be capable of pursuing further studies to PhD level.

This programme is subject to successful validation.

What makes this course different

Funded Masters Opportunity

This programme will be fully funded and allows you the chance to gain a Masters without accruing fees.

Unique Residential

Residential will be held at the beginning of semester 1 in Dundalk

Course Delivery and Modules

This programme will be co-delivered in blended mode by the project partnership which, led by Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), comprises Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Munster Technological University (MTU), Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), and University College Cork (UCC).

While delivered mostly online over two days per week, there will be some requirement for in person attendance at our various partner campuses. The in-person attendance will be restricted to approximately 7 days (on specified Fridays) in total spread throughout the duration of the programme. A full schedule of online and in person attendance sessions/venues will be issued in advance.

Exceptions to this delivery mode include the Induction/Kick-off session (Sept 2025), the Incubation elective and the Industry Challenge Project (June, July, August 2026).

Residential

The programme commences with an exciting two-day kick-off residential & induction session at the lead partner’s campus (DkIT, Dundalk) where learners will be inducted into the programme, meet the team, and begin the first module – Entrepreneurial Competence. This residential will be held at the beginning of semester 1 (2nd & 3rd September, 2025), in Dundalk Co. Louth, and all accommodation/catering costs will be covered by the programme. This immersive residential experience will serve as the catalyst for the programme's commencement, inducting students into the programme, igniting students’ entrepreneurial spirit and setting the stage for their transformative responsible learning journey. It is here that students will be introduced to the REsPoNSE team, undergo induction, learn about the various academic and well-being supports available to them, discuss their career plans, and begin their responsible entrepreneurial transformation.

Incubation Elective

In semester 3, students with a potential business idea will have the option of choosing the module: Incubation for Responsible New Venture Creation. This module will provide students with the opportunity to critically evaluate the viability of their new venture. They will produce a feasibility plan, receive expert mentoring and coaching sessions, and learn how to pitch for funding to an expert panel.

For the incubation elective, learners will be assigned to the Incubation Centre at one of the partner institutions. The Incubation elective will require mostly in-person attendance with some collaborative online delivery.
