Course Overview

This is a 2-year level 6 Technician Apprenticeship with 70% of time spent in the workplace and 30% in DkIT. This Apprenticeship is an ‘earn and learn’ programme that combines on-the-job training with academic study, meaning you’ll earn a salary as you study.

If you are a Production Operator/Technician who wants to re-train or train in the Manufacturing or Engineering sector and work as a Manufacturing Technician, then this course is for you. Manufacturing Technicians provide a technical support function for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, validation and qualification activities of the manufacturing site. This programme will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary for a successful career in manufacturing and beyond.

Course Delivery and Modules

Students will spend one semester per year at the DkIT campus in Dundalk (either Sept-Dec or Jan-May). Classes are delivered face-to-face with approximately 28 hours per week of class contact. Classes will be a mix of lectures, tutorials, workshops and laboratory classes. The remaining time will be spent with the employer (Jan-July or May-Nov).
