Course Overview
Learners will be provided with an in depth, critical exploration of theoretical frameworks, policy structures and legislative responses to Domestic, Sexual & Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV). Drawing on feminist, ecological, human rights and intersectional perspectives, the programme interrogates the structural and cultural conditions that produce and sustain DSGBV. Learners will examine Irish, EU and international legal frameworks, evaluate national and international DSGBV strategies and policy mechanisms, and analyse contemporary debates shaping responses to DSGBV.

Entry requirements
- Applicants should hold a full Level 8 qualification, normally with a minimum of a 2.2 in a relevant honours’ degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Candidates who do not meet the above entry criteria but have considerable relevant experience may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy and Practice | DkIT. Applicants may be interviewed to determine their suitability for the programme.
- DkIT requires that current service users of Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence support services do not undertake this programme. They should delay their application until such time as they are no longer an active service user. This will avoid potential professional conflict of interest between current service users and other programme participants.
- Due to the blended delivery of this programme, students should have access to a personal computer/device, a headset with a microphone and a broadband internet connection to ensure full participation in the programme.
