Course Overview
This 2 semester, 10-credit programme has been developed in collaboration with Teagasc Ballyhaise Agricultural College. This programme is targeted at holders of level 7 qualifications in Agriculture and related areas and it will cover the key in-demand subjects of Applied Soil Science and Digital Agriculture. Upon completion of this course, graduates of this programme will demonstrate:
- Knowledge in the area of applied soil science, related to open innovations in agriculture.
- The ability to apply new advances in digital agriculture to the area of sustainable farming and technologies.
- A strong skills base in soil analysis, while focussing on applied aspects in the area of digital agriculture.
What makes this course different
This is a collaborative programme delivered jointly with Teagasc at Ballyhaise Agricultural College.
This programme provides the opportunity to develop new skills and keep pace with ongoing advancements in the area of soil science and digital agriculture.
Course Delivery and Modules
The course will be delivered via live online lectures on one evening per week and recorded lectures on one evening per week. In addition, students will attend DkIT for Saturday workshops.
Due to the blended learning delivery within this course students should have access to a PC / Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection from home, so as to be able to fully participate in the course. Basic IT skills essential
- Applied Soil Science (semester 1)
- Digital Agriculture (semester 2)
Fees and Funding
The total Course fee is €700, payable as follows:
- Instalment 1: Accept Offer Fee €200 (non-refundable)
- Instalment 2: €500 payable by 31st October

Entry requirements
The minimum entry requirement for the level 8 major award is a level 7 major award in agriculture/ animal science/ crop science or a cognate area.
Graduates of other disciplines will be assessed for entry through the Recognition of Prior Learning process on an individual case-by-case basis. Candidates may be interviewed. Learn more about RPL at DkIT
