Course Overview

This Certificate programme is a 5-credit level 8 micro-credential aimed at those in the Software Sector who wish to develop knowledge and skill in Software Project Management – including Agile frameworks such as Scrum.

On completion of this micro-credential, participants should have an understanding of Software Project Management life-cycle and the benefits/limitations of different frameworks and approaches.

This module examines the various approaches to software project management. The role of people in software production is examined and techniques for estimating and measurement are also appraised. In addition, a number of pitfalls, common to early software development activities, are highlighted and ways to avoid them are addressed.

Course Delivery and Modules

This single module micro-credential will be delivered over 1-semester.

Weekly classes will be online. Online synchronous (live) classes delivered one evening per week. 

Attendance / participation in live classes will be important to master the material. Live online classes will be support by additional asynchronous activity (videos/ resources and tasks) which participants complete in their own time within the same week.

This programme is funded through the South East Cross Border Alliance (SECBA) project, supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements but have significant relevant experience (certified and/or experiential) may apply to access this programme via the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route. Learn more about RPL at DkIT
