DkIT Maths Entry Examination

Details of the additional Maths Entry Examination at Dundalk Institute of Technology.

DkIT is running an additional Maths Entry Examination to allow applicants to pass the Additional Maths Entry Requirements on the following level 8 programmes:

If you have met the basic maths entry requirement for a level 8 programme at DkIT but have failed to meet the additional Maths Entry Requirements for the above programmes, we may be able to help. We are running an additional Maths Entry Examination to allow applicants to have a second chance at meeting these additional Maths Entry Requirements.

Who is the Exam for?

The DkIT Maths Entry Examination is aimed at candidates who:

  • have either sat the Higher Level Maths paper for the Leaving Certificate

OR

  • have studied the Higher Level Maths syllabus to an advanced level during their senior cycle and may have opted for the Ordinary Level Maths paper.

When will the exam be held?

The 2024 DkIT Maths Entry Examination will take place on Monday the 2nd of September 2024.

Students are also advised to participate in the Short Preparation Course that runs from the 26th to the 28th of August.

Both of these activates are included in the fee, as outlined below.


Registration

Participants must pre-register for both the Short Preparation Course and the Maths Entry Exam by 2 pm on Sunday the 25th of August 2024. (Further details will be provided after registration).

The Entry Examination will be conducted in accordance with Government guidelines – if you have any questions/ concerns on this please contact carmen.maritan@dkit.ie.


How much does it cost?

The fee for the Maths Entry Exam is €30. The Short Preparation Course is included in this price.


Results of the exam

The final results from the Maths Entry Examination will be taken into account for second and third-round offers. Results will be available within a few days of the examination.

Additional Supports

If you have a learning difficulty, disability or medical condition and need any reasonable accommodations for the exam such as separate room, extra time, reader and/or scribe, etc., you may request exam supports once the Leaving Certificate results are issued.
