Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is about trust and giving credit where it is due. As soon as you start a programme of study, you become part of a wider academic community.

Why Academic Integrity Matters

In this video, DkIT lecturer Dr Ronan Bree explains why academic integrity matters.

What is Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is about trust and giving credit where it is due. As soon as you start a programme of study, you become part of a wider academic community. This community shares and develops ideas and evidence through scholarly publications like books, journal articles and reports. Throughout your studies, you will use this work in order to develop your own understanding and ideas. It is very important that you acknowledge the source of the information that you use. Presenting the work (including ideas, images and words) of others as though it were your own is known as plagiarism and is an academic offence.

As part of your programme, you will learn more about academic integrity, why it matters and how to ensure integrity in your own work. We are also committed to providing you with excellent learning experiences inside and outside the classroom.
